Are we there yet?

How many times have you heard of a really great family friendly event or activity only to find out after the event or when tickets have sold out? If you're like us, it happens quite a lot. Are we there yet is a simple way for Irish parents to let each other know about upcoming happenings and events via Slack - a super fast and slick tool which is fast becoming a replacement for email in many companies. If you're already using Slack, you'll have no problem jumping right in. If you've never used it before, it's really easy to use and get the hang of.

  • Name
  • Who is behind this?

We are Lisa and Alan, parents to Sam (7). We keep our eyes peeled for activites and events we can take part in together, especially free ones! We set this up as a way to connect with other parents for the collective benefit of our little darlings :)

What happens when I enter my email address?

Either Lisa or Alan will send you an invite to the Slack group (it's a manual process and your invite should arrive within 24 hours). Once you login to Slack, you can then start chatting and posting events in the relevant sections of the Slack group and getting a heads up on places to go and things to do as a family on an ongoing basis.

Sure aren't there loads of places that have family friendly listings already, why would I bother with this?

There are, but it's hard to keep up with them all. Oftimes it might be an email, a Facebook page status update, a tweet, or a poster in a window that you get to hear about some event or other (typically when it's over, as already mentioned). The Slack group will enable all those who join to benefit from the connections of a wider group of like minded parents.

Hope to talk to you soon,

Alan & Lisa
